A journey that began with simple curiosity
CAFE LOCO began with the small curiosity of a young man from a faraway country where not a single coffee bean grows.
"Where does this coffee come from?"
"What are the places like where this coffee grows?"
"Who are the people who grow this coffee?"
"Yes, I have to go, see it with my own eyes, hear it with my own ears, and learn by touching it with my own hands!"
Following this little curiosity, Diego Kim, a barista and roaster from South Korea, began his journey in 2011.
COFFEE HUMANISM
After a year of traveling through Latin America, he discovered something even more important: "More important than coffee are people. And to understand people, you must first learn their language and their culture." Seeing this man who came so far just for coffee, people started calling him 'CAFE LOCO - the crazy one for coffee.' Thus, Café Loco was born in Guatemala in 2012. CAFE LOCO has been built alongside many people.
From the CAFE LOCO team, the many coffee producers, the families who live on the farms and work day after day caring for the nature that surrounds them, to each customer who enjoys our coffee while appreciating the effort and dedication behind each cup.
Today, CAFE LOCO exists thanks to all of them.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
We're not perfect. We don't believe we make the best coffee. But we make fresh, clean, and reliable coffee like no one else. We personally visit the farms, meet the producers, and record their stories. We roast the coffee ourselves and never use coffee roasted more than a week old.
Although it involves more work, we roast frequently and meticulously maintain our machines to always offer you fresh, clean, and reliable coffee.
